About passkeys

Passkeys are a more secure and convenient way to sign in to your Rakuten account. They are FIDO cryptographic credentials tied to your Rakuten account that eliminate the need for passwords or additional factors. Instead, in the same way you unlock your device, you approve your login using your device's built-in authentication methods – facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, PIN code, or pattern.

We are gradually expanding the number of Rakuten services offering passkey sign in.

Your information is only stored on your device or cloud platform.

Rakuten will only receive notifications of the success/failure of authentication. Rakuten does not have access to your biometric information, such as fingerprints or facial features, nor to your PIN codes or patterns.

The solution is based on the FIDO protocols.
